Website analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand website traffic.
Information you provide
We process account details such as username, email, optional bio, location, and profile image; the mixes, covers, comments, saves, likes, follows, and reports you create; and support or moderation messages you send.
Information created by use
Hosting, authentication, and security systems may process IP address, browser and device information, timestamps, request logs, error logs, and basic usage events. Tape Club does not store listening history as a product feature.
Mix pages count visits so that a creator can see how often their own mix has been opened. If you are signed in, this records that your account opened that mix, once. If you are not signed in, it increases a plain counter and records nothing about you: no cookie, no identifier, and no IP address is stored for this. Your browser remembers which mixes it has already counted for the length of the current session only, so refreshing does not count twice, and nothing about that survives closing the tab.
Why we use it
We use information to provide accounts and community features, keep drafts private, publish content you choose to publish, prevent abuse, troubleshoot the beta, enforce community rules, respond to requests, and meet legal obligations.
Public information
Your username, optional location and bio, profile image, published mixes, likes, follows, and comments can be visible to anyone. Draft mixes are intended to be visible only to their author. Saved mixes are private to the person who saved them.
How we share information
Tape Club does not sell your personal information, and does not share it for advertising or ad targeting.
Inside Tape Club. Tape Club is run by one operator. Account data, reports, and logs are accessible only to that operator, and only to run the service, investigate abuse, or answer a request from you.
Outside Tape Club. Information is shared with the service providers listed below, each acting on Tape Club’s behalf and under its own terms, and only to the extent the feature requires. It may also be disclosed where the law requires it, to protect someone’s safety, or to a successor if the service changes hands.
Published by you. Anything you publish — your username, profile image, optional bio and location, mixes, comments, likes, and follows — is visible to anyone, including people without an account, and may be fetched by search engines and other automated crawlers.
Service providers
Supabase supplies authentication, database, and file storage; Vercel hosts the site; Unsplash supplies selected cover images; Soundiiz receives a mix title, description, and ordered artist/title list when you choose to transfer a mix; and YouTube provides public video search and embedded playback for optional track previews. Each provider processes data under its own terms.
YouTube API Services
Tape Club uses the YouTube API Services to find and display public YouTube videos for optional track previews. You do not need to sign in with a Google or YouTube account to use this feature.
What is sent to YouTube. When you press play on a track, Tape Club sends the artist and title of that recording to the YouTube Data API to find a matching video. Nothing about you is sent: no username, no account identifier, no IP address supplied by Tape Club, and no listening history.
What Tape Club keeps. Tape Club stores the matching YouTube video ID against the recording, so the same song does not have to be searched again for anyone. Alongside it, Tape Club temporarily caches the public metadata returned with the search — video titles, channel names, and alternative video IDs. That cached metadata expires and is deleted within 25 days, and within 7 days where no playable video was found. Expired entries are removed automatically. Video IDs may be kept for longer, as the YouTube API Services Terms permit.
Tape Club does not ask for, collect, or store your YouTube login credentials, and does not access any private YouTube account data. There is no Google or YouTube sign-in anywhere in Tape Club.
Embedded YouTube players are provided by Google. Google may collect information when you interact with those players in accordance with the Google Privacy Policy and YouTube Terms of Service.
Read the Google Privacy Policy and the YouTube Terms of Service.
If you delete your Tape Club account, personal data associated with your account is handled according to the retention and deletion practices described above. Public YouTube metadata that is not associated with your identity may remain in Tape Club’s catalogue.
Retention and deletion
We keep account content while your account is active. Reports, security logs, and backups may be retained for a limited period after deletion where necessary for safety, recovery, disputes, or legal compliance. Account deletion is intended to remove your profile, owned mixes, and related community records from the live service.
Your choices
You can edit or delete your mixes and control what you publish. You may request access, correction, or deletion of personal data. Some information may need to be retained where the law permits or requires it.
Contact us
For questions about this policy, requests about your personal data, or anything to do with Tape Club’s use of the YouTube API Services, write to hello@tapeclub.co. We aim to reply within a few days.
Children
Tape Club is not intended for children under 13. If we learn that an under-13 account supplied personal information, we will remove it.
